The UDU drum originates from Nigeria. First used as a clay pot for carrying water, it was only played as a musical instrument by village women. Our classic UDU drum comes complete with cloth-covered donut-ring stand. Tap the drum sides and hole rims with your fingers, a rubber mallet, or a stick; add water and swirl for ululating sound; cover the holes with your overstretched palm and then cup your palm as you remove it for traditional sound. Our Udu is compact, portable, and can be played with 30 seconds practice or less. All you need is rhythm.
