Music and Guitar Lessons in Upstate NY

Finding in-person lessons can be tough, especially in Upstate NY.  Whether you're looking for a formal class, group session, summer camp or private lessons, we've done our best to put together a list for you.  From Albany up to Mechanicsville, this list provides you some resources to find the right teacher for you.

 

 

 

Upstate NY Music Lessons

We searched for teachers and academies from Albany up beyond Lake George.  Some prefer private teachers, while others would rather an established music school.  Either way, we've got them here for you!

  • Glens Falls Music Academy (Glens Falls, NY) - Nestled in the heart of Glens Falls, GFMA instructors host over 120 students per week. Teaching in almost everything from piano to guitar and bass, if you're in upstate New York and looking for lessons this is a great option.
  • Troy Music Academy (Troy, NY) - Fantastic, gifted, helpful - these are some of the words used to describe the instructors at Troy Music Academy. Students are offered a personalized experience, group lessons or workshops for guitars, basses, banjos, woodwinds and more.
  • Modern Day Music (Clifton Park, NY) - One of the differentiators of Modern Day Music is that their Rock School 101 program where you audition to join a band to practice with. This along with private lessons is a great way to propel your skills. Free first trial lesson and a recording studio in-house create a front to back solution for beginners and beyond.
  • Cathy Winter Music (Schenectady, NY) - Cathy Winter's passion is playing the guitar and she has been doing it since the age of 13. Offering private lessons down in the Schenectady and Albany areas, Cathy is a great option for someone who's looking for that personalized one-on-one experience.
  • Capital Area Music Project (Ballston Spa, NY) - Brian Miller, owner of CAMP, is taking music instruction into the future with his state of the art studio. Along with a hand picked selection of gifted instructors, students experience a transformation into musicians where students use the Smart Music software suite to let them connect their home practice and in-studio lessons.
  • Claire's Musique Notes (Ballston Spa, NY) - Focusing heavily classical stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass), Clarie's also has instruction for guitar, voice and drums. Doing a yearly recital, Claire's works to show growth and build relationships.
  • Allegro Music Studio (Mechanicville, NY) - Allegro offers voice, string, guitar, brass, woodwind, piano and percussion lessons. Their summer music camps also offer a great opportunity for a week long intensive plan to learn theory and how to better play.
  • 518 Guitar | Andrew Wheeler (Albany, NY) - Andrew Wheeler offers both in-person and online lessons where he puts his 15 years of experience and Masters of Arts degree to work to help you improve your guitar skills. If you're looking for some great acoustic, blues, blugrass or classical training, you can check Andrew's YouTube videos out before giving him a call.
  • School of Rock Albany (Albany, NY) - With over 180 countries in multiple countries, this isn't your small local music school, however they still work to have that feel. What makes the School of Rock special is their variety of courses including lessons for everyone from pre-K to adult. Top quality instructors make this a go-to for great lessons, word to the wise - don't forget to check out their camps and workshops for a great group experience.
  • The Cady School of Music (Albany, NY) - Since 2005, the Cady School of Music has offered courses, lessons and group sessions for musicians. Teaching in nearly any instrument from classical strings, woodwinds to guitar and bass, you'll find structured and unstructured lessons available conveniently off Central Avenue in Albany.
  • The Music Studio (Albany, NY) - Since 1977 The Music Studio has been nurturing children's love of music. Mainly focused on piano lessons, The Music Studio offers a wide variety of programs for children along with private lessons.
  • Performance School of Arts (Clifton Park, NY) - Art, Music, Acting and Dance are the main categories of lessons at the Performance School of Arts in Clifton Park. They offer group and private lessons along with a few great camps for everyone from beginners up.
