Randall Vmax Guitar Amplifier - In designing the new Vmax, our goal was to combine the best of tubes and solid-state in one amplifier. Randall prides itself on our Constant Current solid-state technology, but we also understand the value of what tubes can offer. Many current amplifier designs are adding a tube to the front end of a solid-state preamp, in the hopes of recreating the true tube sound. We feel the correct way to give you both tube and solid-state tone, is to design an amplifier with two separate preamps, one that's all tube, and the other solid-state. Here are the details:

Randall VMAX Guitar Amplifier

Preamp 1: This preamp incorporates pair of Ruby 12AX7's, that gives you all the lush tube distortion & harmonics. A voicing switch will allow you to shift mid frequencies between a Modern and traditional style distortion, plus a gain boost switch for adding that massive grind.

Preamp 2: This preamp is classic Randall. All solid-state that allows you to switch between clean & overdrive tones. The overdrive channel has a sustain boost that can be activated by pulling the treble pot.

Footswitching:
How many non digital amps can you say come with a microprocessor. Built into this amp is a smart chip we call "Command touch". The chip allows the footswitch and the amp to talk back and forth. Normally the footswitch when plugged in overrides all other changing functions on the front panel. With the smart chip, you can use the front panel or footswitch to make your changes. Any switching you do on the front panel, the footswitch will automatically make that switch with you.
(5-button footswitch activates- Ch. 1, Ch. 2, Ch. 3, tube boost, & graphic EQ).

Additional Front Panel Features:
After finalizing the preamps, we started on the features. The Vmax will have more features than any amp we have offered before. First we started with a footswitch able 6-band graphic that could be assigned to any channel you chose. You can use it for the tube channel, solid-state channel or both. You can activate the graphic by either front panel buttons or the footswitch.

The final feature to add to the front panel was an overall density & presence control. The density knob allows you to control the overall amount of low end, while the presence control gives you extra control of the overall high-end.

Rear Panel Features:
We felt the back panel needed to have simple usable features. Included on the rear panel are the two external speaker outputs, line-out with level control and a parallel effects loop with a level adjustment button to help balance output levels of your processing gear. Last we added our new cabinet simulator circuit, to accurately reproduce the sound of a miked speaker cabinet. This XLR out can be used for live performance and recording situations.
